At the beginning of April, AARCS volunteers Brenda and Darren embarked on the long drive from Edmonton to High Level. Their goal? To pick up 15 animals from our amazing partners at the Northern Lights Regional Humane Society. Upon arriving in High Level, Brenda and Darren were greeted by an amazing group of volunteers and staff from NLRHS. They began loading the van with 15 furry faces. Among them were 6 cats and 9 dogs, all eagerly awaiting their new beginnings.
After the 7-hour drive back to Edmonton, they were welcomed again by the familiar faces at AARCS North Haven. From playful pups wrestling with their siblings to shy cats slowly warming up to their new environment, each animal started to reveal their unique personalities. Each received all the necessary medical care, including deworming, vaccines, microchips, and spay/neuter procedures. Some required additional medical attention, including Silver, who remains in AARCS’ care following FHO surgery.
We are thrilled to share that many of these animals have already found their forever homes. Cats Reggie, Tommy, Timmy, and Maisy have all been adopted. Dogs Oscar, Jett, Presley, Carly, and Joplin have also found loving families. We still have several dogs now cleared for adoption and eagerly waiting for their forever families.
This incredible journey wouldn’t have been possible without the support of PetSmart Charities of Canada. Their transport grant has enabled us to continue to reach our partners and work collaboratively with them to provide second chances to so many deserving animals. This helped AARCS bring over 300 animals into care in the month of April!
Please join us in expressing our heartfelt gratitude to PetSmart Charities of Canada for their continued generosity. Together, we are making a significant impact on the lives of these animals, ensuring they are healthy, happy, and ready for their forever homes.
Thank you, PetSmart Charities of Canada, for helping us make a difference!
