About Emerald

Hi there, my name is Emerald but my foster parents named me Sox because of my cute white paws. And guess what? I am already listening well to my name and am learning how to sit, lay down, wait and come! My foster parents say I get better each day.

I am very friendly with people and so far, I loved everyone that came for a visit. I don’t know how I am with kids as we haven’t tested this yet. Though older children or teenagers would be better as I can get excited and sometimes forget how strong I am.

I enjoy walks and I don’t pull on the leash – only if a bunny or bird gets my attention, then I might try to get it. Sometimes I walk a bit zig-zag but you cannot blame me, there are so many good smells and I want to explore! I would like to have a fenced yard. It does not need to be a big one but I do love lying on my back in the grass, rolling around and sniffing.

I am a sweet and gentle soul. I love my people and want to have them home as much as possible. We don’t need to be in the same room all the time, but I like knowing that you are home. It gives me comfort, and I will lie nicely on the couch (if you let me) or on my dog bed.

I’ve made great progress being alone at home. I thrive on routine and while some days are better than others, I can relax much better now when I am alone at home. I just need to know that you are coming back home to me. When my foster parents are gone for 6-8 hours they say they mostly see me sleeping in my kennel. They are very proud of me for that.

I do well in my kennel, and I sleep perfectly through the night in my kennel. Right now, I am sleeping in my kennel outside of my foster parents’ bedroom and I do fantastic – as a matter of fact I am not too motivated to get up in the morning. I didn’t have any accidents in the house except once. To be fair it was at the very beginning and it happened in my kennel when I was alone.

How do I feel about other dogs? Well, that depends a bit on the other dog. I’d prefer slow introductions to know how I feel about the other dog. When I am on a walk I might whine sometimes and look to see what the other dog is doing. Other times I will walk past and not show any interest. What I don’t like is when other dogs bark because it is a bit scary.

There are so many more great qualities about me! For example, I am not a barker, I am super chill at home, I am cool around vacuums and other loud noises like fire trucks – I might only lift my head to see what’s going on or to move out of the way but that’s about it!

Meet me! I want to show you how great I am and put big smiles on your face. 💞
