AARCS Expands Support for Seniors and Their Pets with Free Wellness Clinic

The Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS) is pleased to be hosting another Senior’s Pet Wellness Clinic at its Safe Haven location (5060 74 Avenue SE, Calgary) on February 24, 2026. This special event offers seniors aged 65+ the opportunity to bring their beloved pets in for free veterinary check-ups and core vaccinations.

“For many seniors, pets are daily companions and an important source of comfort,” said Amy Corpe, Director of Animal Health at AARCS. “Through these Clinics, we’re removing financial barriers to care so seniors can continue to enjoy the unconditional love of their animals.”

Rising veterinary costs are a leading reason some owners are forced to part with their pets. By offering services like wellness exams, vaccines, parasite prevention, and microchipping at no cost, AARCS helps seniors keep their companions at home where they belong. It also relieves pressure on Calgary’s animal shelters, many of which are stretched beyond capacity.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Pet guardians must be 65 years of age or older and on fixed income
  • Have their own means of transportation to and from AARCS Safe Haven
  • Seniors must complete and submit an application for approval

Please note: This event is for senior pet owners, not senior pets. Pets of any age are welcome, as long as their guardian meets the eligibility requirements. Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.
