Ain’t no paw-rty like a Kenneled for a Cause Block Party! 

We’re bringing back our BIGGEST fundraising event of the year, and YOU’RE INVITED! This family-friendly event features adoptable animals, food trucks, a DJ, amazing local vendors, face painting, games, prizes and more.

And we can’t forget to mention our VIPS (Very Important Pet Supporters!) These HEROES volunteer to get locked into our dog runs at the shelter, and they spend the day fundraising to earn their release.

This epic block party is taking place on Saturday, September 13th from 11am – 4pm at AARCS Safe Haven in Calgary. Make sure to save the date – we’ll see you there!

Our goal is to raise $100,000 for the animals this year… Will you help us do it?

In recent years, we have experienced a notable rise in the length of stay for pets in shelter as finding foster homes for dogs, cats and critters has become more challenging. With this in mind, we are asking animal lovers and supporters of AARCS to put themselves in their shoes for a day, or lend a hand to someone who will! Our shelter was meant for short-term care prior to placement in a loving foster home. Each pet that comes through our doors comes with their own story, and challenges they need to overcome – which is why this is a great opportunity to provide them with a better life!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  1. Can I bring my dog to this event? Yes! Leashed dogs are welcome at our block party. Dogs in attendance should be friendly with both people and other animals, and we highly recommend they be up-to-date on vaccinations. Please note, dogs are only able to participate in the outdoor activities – they are not allowed to enter the shelter. 
  2. Can my kids come too? Yes! Kenneled for a Cause is a family-friendly event. We’ll have a kids area with games, face painting and more!
  3. What’s the cost to attend? This is a FREE, non-ticketed event! Donations are greatly appreciated as this is a fundraising event, but your attendance is completely free.
  4. Where is it located? Kenneled for a Cause takes place at AARCS Safe Haven at 5060-74 Ave SE, Calgary, AB. Please note 74 Ave SE will not be accessible by vehicle from 51 St SE due to road closures.
  5. What time should I show up? The event takes place from 11am-4pm. We recommend coming by at least half an hour before the event wraps up to have time to explore all the fun activities!
  6. Where should I park if you’re closing down the street? You can park along 51 St SE or 48 St SE. There will also be limited overflow parking available in the gravel lot at National Process Equipment on 74 Ave SE. See the parking map here.
