AARCS Veterinary Hospital is a fast-paced, high volume clinic designed specifically to help rescued animals. Our team of experienced veterinarians, technicians, assistants and support staff ensure the animals are provided with the highest standard of medical care. The hospital is fully equipped allowing our team to perform a variety of treatments on a daily basis.
THE ROLE: This role is responsible for supporting our skilled team of Veterinarians. Having both a love of people and animals, you are naturally optimistic, positive, friendly, and approachable. Working with on-site Veterinarians, the medical team, and a group of dedicated volunteers, you pride yourself on exceptional patient care. POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Provide medical care to shelter and foster animals (primarily cats, dogs, guinea pigs and rabbits), including physical examinations, diagnostics, medical rounds, and treatments under the guidance of Veterinarians, while ensuring safe handling of animals with behavioral concerns.
- Perform pre-medication, induction, intubation, and monitoring of anesthesia for surgical procedures, and respond to anesthetic emergencies with proficiency and care.
- Conduct high-volume surgical preparation, monitoring, recovery, and sterilization wrap packing to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Administer treatments, injections, and medications, and provide supportive care for hospitalized and isolated animals, adhering to strict disease prevention protocols.
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics, including radiographs, bloodwork, urinalysis, fecals, cytology, and ultrasounds, oral health assessments, diagnostic dental radiographs, and dental charting.
- Educate foster parents and adopters on animal health, including prescription medication usage and general wellness.
- Maintain accurate medical records in coordination with veterinary staff, entering data daily into electronic systems such as PetPoint.
- Collaborate with Veterinarians, Veterinary Technologist Assistants, and volunteers to deliver a high standard of care, maximizing resources while minimizing costs.
- Perform clinic husbandry tasks, including cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining equipment and facilities.
- Ensure compliance with quarantine and sanitation protocols to manage and prevent contagious diseases.
- Support scheduling, phone inquiries, and operational needs for surgeries, examinations, and rechecks.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
- Licensed RVT in the province of Alberta.
- Must be in good standing with the ABVMA.
- Minimum three years of surgical experience is preferred.
- Experience in animal welfare/shelter environment is considered an asset.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Hospital environment within a busy animal shelter with a moderate to loud noise level.
- The position involves exposure to dangerous and/or diseased animals.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and up to 120 lbs with assistance.

THE ROLE: The Adoptions Supervisor plays a key role in leading and enhancing AARCS’ adoption program. This position requires a strategic and creative individual to increase adoption rates and ensure that animals are matched with loving homes. The Adoptions Supervisor oversees a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, guiding them to meet organizational goals while providing excellent customer service and high standards of animal care. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Support the day-to-day operations of the adoptions department, ensuring all processes run efficiently and effectively.
- Supervise Adoptions Coordinators, providing mentorship, performance evaluations and management, and support.
- Coordinate with other departments to assist with the smooth transition of animals from intake to adoption.
- Develop and implement innovative strategies and campaigns to boost adoptions and streamline the adoption process.
- Oversee the planning and execution of adoption events, including organizing staffing and volunteers, logistics, and marketing efforts, in collaboration with other departments and stakeholders.
- Ensure that adoption policies and procedures are followed consistently to maintain high standards of service and care.
- Track and analyze adoption data, generating regular reports to measure success and identify opportunities for growth or improvement.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date animal profiles in PetPoint and website to maximize exposure of adoptable animals.
- Address customer service issues, handling with professionalism and compassion. Escalate more complex issues as required.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Pet Store partners, maintaining relationships and addressing any concerns or needs as they arise. Manage the movement of cats and small animals, ensuring an adequate number are available in stores for adoption.
- Assist in training and developing both new and existing staff and volunteers, ensuring a consistent, high-quality adoption experience.
- Regularly participate in adoption initiatives by screening applications and facilitating adoptions. Provide coverage for Adoption Coordinators as needed.
- Act as the main point of contact for walk-in adoptions, handling inquiries, screenings, and the adoption process while coordinating additional staff support as needed.
- Provide on-call support to foster homes and/or shelter caregivers in the case of an emergency during a one week rotation, as needed, but approximately once every 12 weeks.
- Other tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum three years management or supervisory experience, preferably in a similar field.

As the Development Officer, you will join a dynamic, supportive and mission-driven development team. In this role, you will develop and strengthen relationships with donors at the major gift level, elevating their sights to what is possible through their support of AARCS. - Prospect research, donor data analysis, database management, and processes to strengthen fund development operations.

Develop
- Meaningful relationships with a portfolio of donors, building on current momentum and identifying new opportunities.
- Targeted donor engagement strategies for key prospects, highlighting both operational and campaign giving opportunities.

Support
- The Director of Development and Executive Director in managing key donor relationships.

Communicate

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
Experience
- A driven, adaptable, and “pick-up-the-phone” style fundraiser with 3-5 years of experience in major gift fundraising and donor stewardship. Campaign experience is an asset but not required.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher education level in a relevant area.
- Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation (or working towards designation) preferred but not required.
- Experience engaging other staff and volunteers in donor conversations, including supporting executive staff and board members in fundraising activity.
- Demonstrated success in securing six figure gifts and managing a portfolio of major donors.
Skills

VOLUNTEER TREASURER: BOARD OF DIRECTORS
ABOUT US: The Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS) is a registered charity and a leading animal welfare organization in Alberta, built on a foundation of compassion and kindness. Our goals are to help homeless animals in communities across Alberta and find them loving adoptive homes. In addition, we provide community support programs to address the root causes of animal overpopulation and homelessness and help keep people and pets together. The organization is located in Calgary with a shelter and veterinary hospital assisting over 6,000 animals each year through our numerous programs. We employ approximately 55 staff, have over 3,000 volunteers and foster parents and are governed by a Board of Directors consisting of 9–15 members. The Board is a policy‑governance board, with day‑to‑day operations managed by the executive and leadership team.

THE ROLE: We are looking to fill the Treasurer position on our volunteer Board of Directors. This role provides financial leadership, oversight, and strategic guidance. The Treasurer plays a key governance role by supporting the Board’s fiduciary responsibilities and strengthening the organization’s financial sustainability.
The Treasurer works closely with the Finance Director, leads the Finance and Audit Subcommittee, and serves as a financial advisor to the Board. This role is particularly important as the organization enters the early stages of a capital campaign.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Governance & Financial Oversight
- Chair and lead the Finance and Audit Subcommittee, including meeting preparation and follow‑up
- Provide advice, guidance, and support to the organization’s Finance Director
- Review and present annual financial statements to the Board
- Steward the annual audit, including working with external auditors and reporting results to the Board
- Review the annual operating budget (approximately $6 million) and provide recommendations to support Board approval
- Monitor financial performance and highlight risks, trends, and opportunities
- Provide financial and accounting advice to the Board and senior leadership as needed
- Compliance & Stewardship
- Serve as a signing authority on behalf of the organization, including signing payments over established thresholds
- Execute banking documents, audit confirmations, and other financial instruments as required
- Support completion and review of annual AGLC reporting and other regulatory filings
- Ensure financial practices align with organizational and accounting policies and applicable legislation
- Strategic & Fund Development Support
- Participate in strategic planning, including attendance at 1–2 off-site board sessions per year
- Actively support the organization’s capital campaign, including:
- Participating in fund development training

- General Board Duties
