About Taters
Taters—part giant puppy, part cuddle bug, and 100% good boy in the making.
Meet Taters! This 8-month-old, ~80 lb (and still growing!) shepherd/husky-type mix is as sweet as he is handsome. At his core, Taters is a gentle, affectionate guy who loves being close to his people, soaking up attention, and then settling in for a good nap. He does well in his crate and can relax there for hours during the work day and overnight, though he may need a little encouragement (and a snack) to head in.
He enjoys playing with toys, romping in the snow, and is very friendly with other dogs. Taters is still gaining confidence in the world and can be a little unsure around men at first, but with patience, his soft and loving personality really shines through.
Like many adolescent pups, Taters is curious, food-motivated, and still learning the rules of home life. He’s potty trained, crate trained, and working on his leash skills, but when left unattended he may help himself to whatever he can reach—whether that’s counters, shoes, or the occasional “redecorating project.” With his size and smarts, supervision and structure will go a long way in helping him succeed.
He can get a bit overstimulated after walks or play, but settles quickly once given a chance to decompress, especially in his crate. He’s not a constant ball of energy—just a young dog still figuring out how to regulate himself.
Taters would likely do well in a home with another dog and a secure yard to explore (he may try to jump or dig), and due to his prey drive, a home without cats is recommended.
Taters is a lovable, gentle soul who just needs a little guidance as he grows into himself. For the right home, he’s going to be an incredibly rewarding companion.
