About Arnold
It is hard to keep a good dog down, and Arnold is no exception!
Arnold is an adorable medium-sized dog that spent the last few months recovering from a broken leg that is now cleared for action. Coming into a shelter with a broken leg would get most dogs down, but not Arnold – he is a good boy. He approaches life with a happy attitude. Since he has been in foster care, he is always cuddling with his people and is thrilled to get outside for walks. He loves to play with you, and is also able to entertain himself with his toys. He is thrilled that he’s cleared for all activities including playing with other dogs and would do well with another playful dog in the home.
Arnold is a lover. Other people? Love them! Other dogs? Love them! Kids? Love them! Senior citizens? Love them! He hasn’t been tested with cats yet. He’s been very interested in squirrels and bunnies on our walks, but usually doesn’t try to chase them, although once in a while he gets enticed.
Arnold seems to have had lots of love in his life, but not a lot of training. He’s smart and food motivated which helps, and has learned sit, wait, back, paw, leave it, and off. He is so happy to see people he forgets to keep all four on the floor but is improving. He will thrive with more activities or positive training to keep his enthusiastic mind busy. He seems much younger than his two years with his playful attitude.
He adores all of his toys: stuffies, balls, ropes, snuffle mats and kongs. A chew toy doesn’t stand a chance with this guy – he will work on it until it is in pieces! Arnold has a fantastic sense of smell and has found every peanut that the squirrels attempted to hide in the yard. He is very smart and would probably be great at scent work.
Arnold is fully house trained and will try to get your attention when he wants to go out. He sleeps through the night in his own bed and quietly waits for you to get up to start the day. He’s been left alone with no issues while his fosters are off at work. At times, he can get overly excited when playing. When that happens, we put him in his pen for some quiet time, and he takes a nap and calms down. He is generally quiet and has not barked often while at his foster home. Once in awhile when he gets tired at night, he goes looking for a slipper or sock to steal but he’s easily redirected.
Arnold is not fond of the car, but he does settle and does well overall. Our longest ride was over an hour and he was fine.
If you have a happy attitude, a great outlook on life, and lots of love to share, then Arnold might just be the dog for you.
