Moderately shy

Hi, I’m Carter! I went through a rough patch recently. I had a hard time eating and grooming myself because my mouth was in so much pain. My tummy was upset and I had mats all over my body that were really uncomfortable. And then I went to a strange home, which was really scary. But I’m a happy cat now! All my sore teeth have been removed, and the four teeth I have left are all I need to eat, even dry food.

After five weeks, I realized that my foster human was nice, and now I spend time sitting on her lap grooming my soft, beautiful fur. It’s still growing out where they cut the mats off, but soon it’s going to be even more luxurious than it is now. The foster human helps me out by combing me, which I love! I eat canned food for sensitive tummies, but I might be able to eat other food too if I can switch over slowly. 

My foster human and the vet assistants say that I’m a gentle soul. When I’m scared, I don’t bite… I just try to hide. I don’t beg for food or bug my human while she’s sleeping. I do scratch the furniture every once in a while, but I don’t mind having my claws trimmed at all. Really! It’s fine. 

I do still get a bit scared when I hear new sounds but I quickly get used to them, especially if my foster human tells me not to worry. I’d be happiest in a quiet house with a nice hiding spot where I could take my time to feel brave. But once I feel safe with you, I’ll be a great cuddle buddy.
