About Gwen

“Hi! My name is Gwen and I am a very sweet and adorable little lady with silky soft fur and so much love to give!

“So far, I’ve discovered that I love chasing balls, playing tug, chewing toys and long lasting chews and being outside! I never get tired of wondering around in the yard or sitting on the back deck.
I absolutely love my doggy buddies that I’m currently residing with and I would play all day with them if only they would let me. I’m still learning about boundaries and my foster mom knows when it’s time for me to have a rest. I just have so much energy and don’t always know when I need a break to self-regulate.

Even though I love my foster siblings, I can become nervous when meeting new dogs. It’s best to go slow at first so I don’t get overwhelmed and then I know we’ll become the best of friend’s! Although I don’t need to live with another dog, in some situations, I have shown to be more confident with one around.

I’m getting pretty good at minding my own business around the dog Savvy cat in the house. Sometimes I still give her a quick sniff or bark at her to try to get her to play but foster mom quickly redirects me to something else.

We are currently working on loose leash walking skills in the house. I’m not quite ready for walks yet as I’m still nervous in the front of the property. I’m calmer when I get to sniff around in quiet areas like the field behind my house. Foster mom says there’s no rush and as long as I have a fenced in yard and someone to play with, I am a super happy girl!

I’m told I’m quite smart and very trainable with positive reinforcement. I love treats and praise! I already know how to do behaviours such as a sit, down and hand touch. I love when foster mom plays games with me that teach me about confidence and impulse control. Another thing I love is catching treats. Even when I miss, I still have so much fun trying!

My recall in the house and yard is coming along nicely as well. My foster family has always called me “Puppy” so that’s what I think my name is. 😁

My house training is going very well! I haven’t had an accident in the house in weeks. As long as I’m let out regularly, I won’t have one. I even started going to the door and sometimes I ring the bell. This is a behavior that I taught myself! That’s how smart I am!

Another awesome thing about me is that when you put me to bed for the night, I sleep quietly until the morning. You won’t hear a peep from me.

During the day, I happily take naps in my crate and since foster mom works part-time, I’m used to staying in up to 4 hours at a time. I’d love a family who isn’t away from home all day, as I’m still a young pup.

I am working on gaining confidence when meeting new people. I do start off a little shy but with the right approach, I warm up quickly. I just need new friends to be patient and then you’ll see how sweet I am! I think I would do best with children that are a little older and calmer especially while we’re meeting and I’m adjusting to a new family.

My foster family tells me that with my beautiful looks (check out my eyes) and spunky personality, there’s a loving and patient family out there ready to give me all the love in the world. Are you that family ready to share the rest of my life with me? I can’t wait to meet you!” xo, Gwen! 💓
