Holden is very calm at home and, since he’s still a puppy, he sleeps a lot. But when he wants to go outside, he brings our shoes to the front door to let us know. He’s still teething and can be mouthy, but he usually redirects well when given a hard treat or a toy to play with. He’s still learning how to walk on leash, but will continue to improve with positive reinforcement and fun training sessions!

Once he’s outside, he gets super energetic, but it’s important that we don’t get overly excited too. If we stay calm and still, Holden usually settles down again pretty quickly. He loves sniffing around and digging in the dirt. He’s also still working on house training. Outside, he tends to hold it at first, even during walks.

If the walk is long enough, he’ll sometimes go outside, but with shorter walks like 30 minutes, he usually waits until he gets home to pee.

He’s completely fine in the car; we even took him to Banff, and he didn’t bark, pee, or poop in the car at all. If he ever starts barking in the car, it usually means he needs to go potty. He understands basic recall in low distraction environments, helped along by treats.
