Extremely shy

Hi I’m Toadstool and I’m a fun-guy!

I’m Toadstool, but my friends call my Toady. I’m shy and maybe my name came from my love of hiding in the shadows under the furniture, who knows? My favourite hiding place is my little tent under a chair where I can watch everything and decide my next moves.

I’m a gentle and sweet boy who is getting braver with every new thing I try and I have very clear personal boundaries that I challenge every day. This week I have started to test coming out in public to show off my mad scratch post skills and toy chasing techniques. I love sitting in front of an open window with my eyes closed (when the pigeons aren’t around) and I love stretching out for long naps on the bed when your back is turned. I’m very curious about the pictures on the TV.

When I am a bit nervous, I close my eyes because if I can’t see you, you can’t see me, and hope you’re not looking at me when I open them again. If you’re not looking, I pop out to play, get small zoomies, or sit in my window. Despite my love of shadows, I don’t really like the dark and have made friends with an afternoon sunbeam.

My foster thinks I really want to come out more but I’m still watching and learning first. Once I feel safe, I feel brave.

I love treats of all kinds, exploring, and my favourite toys are bell balls, springs, and mouse. I’m deciding how I feel about cat grass. I may be shy but the reward for being patient with me is great! Little moments like eating treats out of your hand or eating dinner together feel like big wins.

I’m looking for a patient person to call my own, and I may do best in a quiet home.
