About Harley Quinn
Hi my name is Harley Quinn. While I’m named after a crazy comic character, I’m nothing like her. Well, other than she has multi-shades of hair, and I have different coloured eyes. It doesn’t bug me at all. I see perfectly fine. It just means I’m way more special than all the other cats. My craziness ends there, though. I am a rather chill cat most of the time, if I do say so myself.
I was labelled as moderately shy when I came into the AARCS shelter, but that is not my foster parents’ experience. The first three days in my new foster home, I needed some time to explore and get used to all the unfamiliar sounds and spaces, but now that I have gotten to know my foster parents, I love to play, get pets, head scratches and hang out next to them. At the same time, I’m independent. I’m perfectly fine to nap on my own and hang out by myself, watching the outside world. I eat when I feel like it, and I am never demanding. My foster mom has nicknamed me “Adorapuss” because I am soooo adorable, but I’ll let her tell you more about me …
We have been fostering Harley Quinn for two weeks, but wanted to wait a bit before updating her bio to really get to know her personality so that we can help her find her forever home.
Harley Quinn is a laid-back girl who is happy being around people, or fine to hang out by herself when you are not home. She will spend part of the day on her own and spend the evening with us in the living room; sometimes in her own spot and sometimes between us on the couch. She isn’t a lap cat but is happy to get pets. One thing she really does love is her morning routine. She will quietly sit and watch as you get ready, but then once she sees you are ready for your breakfast, she loves to play with you, give head boops and brush up against your leg. If you have time to brush or comb her… even better. She will roll around on the floor and show you her tummy for some belly rubs. What makes her an “Adorapuss” is the sweet little meow she has when she is playing. Chasing balls and running through her tunnel are two of her favourite activities.
She has not been tested with other cats or dogs yet, but would probably be good with either with proper introductions. She is on metabolic food (available everywhere) as she is a little overweight at the moment. She likes to eat her food at a slow pace therefore, if other animals in the home steal her food, that could make it hard for her to stick to her diet. We have found over the past couple of weeks that just getting out of the shelter has led her to become more active, and she’s starting to lose her extra weight.
While we don’t consider Quinn to be a really shy cat, she is cautious at first. She doesn’t get spooked by all loud sounds and will even walk up to us while the electric toothbrush is running. We suspect a quieter home would still be her preference, or one with kids who understand cat boundaries.
