About Sutton

Moderately shy

A quirky girl who needs patience and support to let that personality shine!

Hi there! My name is Sutton and I am a bit of a quirky girl. I have been learning how to come out of my shell in my foster home and my personality is coming out loud and clear.

I live for treats and toys, love to explore, pets and scratches, and I am working up my courage to snuggle up and sit on a lap. I like being close so if you are looking for me, I will be within arms reach. If you are on the sofa, I am below you. If you are at your desk, I am underneath. If you are in the kitchen and turn, I am right at your heels.

I like to follow you and when you leave, I like jumping up and inspecting for possible treats or toys that may have been left behind.  I take this very seriously and if you don’t leave something, I will follow you, make eye contact, and meeeeow to let you know how I feel about that.  I can be very persuasive.  *Foster comment: I leave treats to encourage her to explore.

Sometimes when I am hiding under the sofa I forget to observe and fall asleep on my back, so look for little toe beans before you stand up. I might snore.

My coat is a shiny black with a salt & pepper mane and I use it as my invisibility cloak.  I usually like to hide in the shadows and jump scare you by opening my big bright yellow-green eyes and maybe pawing at your ankles as you pass on the way to the bathroom.  If you catch me by turning on the light, I freeze in the shape of a Halloween cardboard cut out cat and meep at you until you turn them out again.

If you like a cat that talks back and takes derp pictures, I am your girl! My special skill is making a face when the camera comes out and I will be happy to be in every awkward family photo.  I like it when you talk to me and will chatter back. If you sleep in I will serenade you with my meow-opera in the kitchen until breakfast is served.

If I let you pet me, I will lean into the deep ear, back, and bum scratches.  Sometimes I get so excited I toot, but that doesn’t bother me any, so don’t cut back on treats.

I love watching people out the window, but meep at the pigeons and hide. I do a great impression of a meerkat when I’m being nosy and trying to see what you’re eating or who dared to walk their dog outside.

I’m curious and touch everything in the home with my nose. I’m a climber and my only regret is the climb back down. I don’t like to be picked up but I might climb down if you put a chair there for me.

I may nibble the edges of plants (only safe ones says my foster), and lick the butter if you leave it out. I love to take long sniffs of clean laundry. I chase invisible bugs and sunbeams.

I can be a picky eater, although I always suck the gravy off even if I don’t like it. Don’t worry,  I will let you know how I feel about it, and my foster says she’ll help you know what I like.

I may hold your toe or finger while you sleep, and occasionally I check your pulse by putting my perfect paw over your closed eye.

Vacuums and washing machines are monsters and I have yet to be convinced otherwise.

I am looking for a home where I can build up more strength and I’m pretty brave so I will keep trying to get closer to you for scratches and snuggles. My foster thinks I would do well with someone who loves to laugh and is going to be patient with me.  She says I am amazing her every day with how far I have come and how much love I have to give.

I am looking forward to finding my forever home and showing you what a sweet and quirky girl I am.  I would like to sign up for your awkward family photos! xo Sutton
