Compassionate Veterinary Care
At AARCS, we believe that every pet deserves to stay with the family who loves them, even when they are facing hard times. That’s the “why” behind our Compassionate Care program – a vital initiative that provides critical support to pets and their family in times of need.
Too often, families are faced with the heart-wrenching decision to surrender their beloved pets due to unforeseen or out-of-budget medical expenses. Our Compassionate Care program steps in to provide diagnosis and care for illnesses or injuries when no other option exists. This program offers a lifeline for families and their pets, keeping them together and out of shelters – a crucial step in our work toward ending animal homelessness. We also provide spay/neuter services and basic veterinary care through this program for qualifying clients.
Since the program’s pilot phase, we have made remarkable strides. Initially, all veterinary care and diagnostics were conducted at external clinics. However, in late 2024, we achieved a groundbreaking milestone: approval to provide this care at our in-house veterinary hospital in Calgary. This advancement makes us one of the first non-profits in Alberta authorized to perform such work in-house. This will help reduce our costs allowing us to expand this service to more clients and their pets.
Our ability to deliver veterinary services in-house not only enhances accessibility for families in need but also allows us to support other approved rescue organizations with spay/neuter and medical care.
The Compassionate Care Program is made possible through the generous support of donors and advocates like you. Together, we’re creating a brighter future for pets and their families.
Join us in making a difference. Your support allows us to keep pets where they belong – in loving homes – and continue working towards a future free of animal homelessness.
Every pet we treat through this program represents a family spared from heartbreak and a pet spared from the uncertainty of a shelter environment. By addressing immediate needs and offering compassionate care, we’re building a stronger community that supports animal welfare at its core.
I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible support and care you have extended to our patient and their senior pet through your Compassionate Care Program.
When our patient first approached us, they were facing significant challenges in providing essential healthcare for their beloved senior pet. The financial burden of veterinary expenses was overwhelming, and without your generous assistance, they would not have been able to afford the necessary care.
Your program’s commitment to supporting pets in need is truly commendable. Providing our patient’s pet with a full examination, comprehensive lab work, essential vaccines, and grooming services has made an immeasurable difference in their lives. Not only did you address immediate health concerns, but you also showed genuine compassion and dedication to improving their overall well-being.
On behalf of The Alex Pathways to Housing Program, our patient, and their beloved pet, please accept our sincerest gratitude. Your dedication to making veterinary care accessible to those in need is truly inspiring, and we are privileged to collaborate with such a compassionate organization.
