About Cheese
Cheese cam into AARCS’ care along with her ten beautiful puppies in the fall of 2024. She did an exceptional job raising them, and they have all since found their forever homes. While Cheese has been thriving in foster care since January of this year, she is ready for her turn at a happily ever after. At only two years old, Cheese has a long life ahead of her to shower her future family with her distinct German Shepherd loyalty and protection.
Cheese has been making friends at her Foster Mom’s workplace where she has quickly garnered her very own fan club. In fact, she was even nominated as ‘Fur Baby of the Month’ for April. Since the first day Cheese entered foster care, she has been eagerly jumping into the car ready for any adventure that awaits. If you’re looking for a companion that will travel well and hang their head out the window on the way to any destination, Cheese is definitely the dog for you! She has responded very well to all of her training exercises, and is an enjoyable walking partner happily sniffing her way through the world.
Cheese is her best self in the company of other canine friends. She is eager to introduce herself to any dogs she meets and responds well to verbal guidance on how to play well with small and large dogs alike. If you’re lucky, you will catch Cheese’s maternal instincts at play when she spots a young puppy–she instantly dons her Mama hat and inspects young dogs for cleanliness and health. She has even shown this same care when meeting human babies. Cheese has met children of all ages, and while she shows an interest and willingness to interact with them, she does need supervision in the presence of anyone who is smaller than her.
Cheese has been learning to trust people more and has been expanding her circle of trusted humans. Her confidence has grown, and she is content with the company of a rotation of people. Her German Shepherd nature shines in her loyalty to her Foster Family, and she endearingly follows her humans around to ensure they’re safe at all times. With a bit of patience, Cheese will absolutely share this same loyalty with her future family. A family experienced with larger dogs will thrive as parents to Cheese and allow her to keep growing her confidence.
What are Cheese’s friends saying about her?

“Cheese is an enthusiastic, big-eyed mush of a dog who requires people-care and community nurturing to be the best she can be.”
