About Silas
“Hello everyone! My name is Silas and I am a senior gentleman searching for a cozy home to retire in. In the past I spent a lot of time outside, but I have adjusted to being an indoor dog very well! I do all my business outside and like to sleep on my comfy dog bed in the living room at night.
My foster home has two cats and I am learning how to be “chill” around them. I coexist very well with one of these cat fellows, but the other one thinks I’m shady so we keep a good distance from each other. I think it would be okay if my new family had cats, as long as they helped me with my training and introduced us slowly. I have lived with dogs in the past and I don’t bark at any that we pass on the street. I wouldn’t mind having another older, calm dog to keep me company during the day.
My foster mom leaves me at home while she goes to work and I take a long nap while I wait for her to come back. If she leaves at a time I’m not use to I can get a bit panicked, but I am working really hard on my training and making good progress. I just need a little bit of patience and reassurance.
I have met a few kids and I think they are pretty great, as long as they are gentle with me! As for strangers, well…I hope you aren’t looking for a guard dog. I welcome every visitor to my home with a soft tail wag and happily accept gentle pets.
Because I am a bit older, I need some medications and special care to help me stay comfortable. But don’t let that deter you, it’s really not much, and I take my pills with no fuss. My foster mom has lots of rugs on the wood floors so I don’t slip, and her house doesn’t have too many stairs. I’d be really grateful if my new family could do the same for me!
Even though I am “of a certain age”, I am still an active guy. I enjoy three leisurely walks every day, and playing with my squeaky toys inside. Busy streets and loud noises make me a bit nervous, so I would really like a home in a quieter neighborhood.
Could you be the last stop on my journey to my forever home?
