About Santina

Sensational senior survivor Santina seeks a loving, patient retirement home.

At ten years young, Santina has some medical issues she has been working through – including severe dental disease, knee problems, an extensive mammary mass, and a mature cataract. Thanks to generous donations, the care of AARCS veterinary staff, and a loving, nurturing foster Mom, Santina has fully recovered from comprehensive dental surgery and extensive mammary mass removal surgery. Now fully healed, toothless, and no longer suffering silently in pain, Santina is ready for a healthier, loving retirement in a warm, caring, nurturing, and patient forever adoptive home.

Santina is crate-trained and has spent most of her previous life in a crate, so she feels safe and comfortable in an open crate. However, she now knows the comfort of a human bed, a couch, a warm pile of blankets, and a cozy dog bed. Santina is easily wary of humans and can be startled by fast, sudden movements and loud noises. Since recovering in a warm, loving, nurturing foster home, with patience, respect, and dignity, she has slowly warmed up to her loving foster Mom. Santina will even ask her loving foster Mom for a gentle head, neck, body, and occasional belly rub. Once she feels safe, Santina will now choose to sleep on her foster Mom’s bed, couch, by her feet, or side.

If you are a patient, loving, dedicated human looking for a low-energy senior dog companion, your love and care could make a world of difference to Santina. Apply to adopt her today and be a part of her journey to a warm, loving, nurturing, and patient forever home.

Do I Need Special Care?

Both, Medical and Behavioral - As a Senior with no teeth, softened food is required and she has limited vision due to cataracts. Needs slow intros to new surroundings and people. Should be leashed in open areas because she will bolt if scared.
