About Hope

Hope is looking for her forever home.

Hope came into AARCS care from rural AB, where she had been at large until rescued by a caring farmer. She was initially very frightened and didn’t leave her run once in the 3 weeks at the shelter before she went into foster care.

Hope is a lovely girl, very affectionate and playful. She loves other dogs and her favorite thing in the world is to go to the park, where she gets to meet dogs and people. When she knows that she’s going to the park (or any car ride), she has no problem standing quietly and getting a leash attached to her collar. She’s always the first one to jump into the car as well. At the park she will eagerly visit every dog there and, if her foster brother takes the lead, she’ll even approach strangers. She has pretty good recall and will sometimes get to play chase-me with her friends.

Once she’s used to you, she’ll come bounding up for attention and cuddles. She’s an extremely affectionate girl. I would guess that she’s approaching two years old and weighs in at about 65 pounds (30 kg). She has no prey drive and would probably do OK in a house with cats. She will do best with a family that has another dog, as she does take her cues from them.

I think that Hope will eventually overcome all her fears with time. She has come such a long way from the fearful dog that first appeared at the shelter that I have no doubts that she’ll eventually get past them all. It will just take time and patience from a loving family.
