Moderately shy

Sugar and spice and all things nice definitely applies to me! Hi, there! I’m Nevis, a very sweet tortie who just adores being in the presence of my human but I am pretty shy at first.

Don’t be fooled, however! I love to be petted and scratched, and you will probably be surprised at how such a petite girl can purr so loudly and for so long. I do prefer to keep all four paws on the ground, but I’ve been working on becoming more confident and I even surprise myself sometimes. When I feel a little overwhelmed, I just go away to recharge and return when I’m ready or when you call me gently to come out. I’ll answer with sweet meows and emerge to let you know that everything is fine and I’m ready for all the pets and scratches you can give me.

Recently, a visitor came to see us. He was a 10-year-old boy who loves cats. I didn’t know him so I kept my distance at first, but he was very patient with me. He fed me every day and gave me treats, so I let him pet me after a day or two. I even gave him some head bumps!

I’m an explorer who investigates every corner as my confidence grows. I love to play with my favourite toys, which are easy to spot since I pick them out of my toybox myself when I want to play. I’m not shy in asking for my foster mom to get out the wand toys for me either. I like to chase, jump and catch toys before retiring for a relaxing nap in one of my preferred spots. Sometimes I nap on the windowsill (you never know what you might see outside!) and sometimes in my little cave in the corner. Most of the time, I prefer to nap close to where my human is.
