Slightly timid

My name is Sapphire and if you’re looking for a lap cat, I’m your girl! I love to be around my people. If you’re sitting or laying down, I like nothing more than to plunk myself on top of you and then purr. It’s really the ear and chin scratches that I’m after! 

But I’m so much more than a lap cat! I love it when you play with me, with a feather wand or a long shoelace. And of course, I like boxes and bird watching – either from a window or on a video. I’ve also recently discovered the joy of being brushed. I can’t get enough of it and it keeps my tuxedo shiny and clean! 

I’m a chatty cat and I’ll tell you when I want to play or eat. I came to my foster home very overweight but I’ve cut snacking and am exercising, so I’ve lost a lot of weight.

I’ll be a little nervous when I first come to your house. At my foster home in the early days, my safe area was under a bed and I would only come out when the humans called me. But now I’m around my people all the time and only hide when the vacuum comes out! I originally came from a house that had other cats so my people are pretty sure I’m okay with other kitties. I’m not sure how I’d be with dogs.
