In the last year, we have experienced a notable rise in the length of stay for pets in shelter as finding foster homes for dogs, cats and critters has become more challenging. With this in mind, we are asking animal lovers and supporters of AARCS to put themselves in their shoes for a day, or lend a hand to someone who will! Our shelter was meant for short-term care prior to placement in a loving foster home. Each pet that comes through our doors comes with their own story, and challenges they need to overcome β which is why this is a great opportunity to provide them with a better life!

Event Update 07/21/23
Today, we want to take a moment to address our upcoming Block Party and Jail n Bail fundraising event. This year, we have received valuable feedback and concerns from our community regarding the premise of this event that we had not considered before. We have been deeply moved by the voices that have spoken up, expressing how this event may inadvertently cause harm to individuals who may be over-represented in or have experienced trauma as a result of their interactions with the justice system.
At AARCS, our mission is to change lives through kindness, not only for the animals we care for but also for every individual involved in our cause. We acknowledge that the Jail n Bail concept, while intended to be light-hearted and fun, may have unintentionally caused distress for those who have been affected by the prison system or related traumatic experiences.
Our vision is to create a compassionate world that embraces the wellbeing of all beings, humans and animals alike. In light of the concerns raised, we are committed to making a positive change. We firmly believe that fundraising should never come at the expense of anyone’s well-being or peace of mind.
Therefore, we have decided to pivot the premise of this event to directly support the animals in need, particularly those within our shelters.Β
We acknowledge that this decision comes at a challenging time, as our event is just over a month away, and altering the campaign late in the planning process will come with challenges and added costs. In the past, the Block Party and Jail n Bail fundraiser has been one of our most significant events, raising up to $70,000 annually, providing crucial support for the thousands of animals under AARCS’ care each year. While we will undoubtedly face hurdles in this transition, we hope that our supporters will understand and continue to support this important event this year, re-envisioned asΒ βAARCS Kenneled for a Cause Block Party.βΒ
