About Melon

“I’m a young, energetic puppy who loves to play with dogs and kids! I’m a bit shy but once I know I can trust you its all about puppy fun and cuddles from there!

I’m currently living in a foster home with three other dogs. I LOVE playing with two of the other dogs, we run and chase and wrestle in the backyard until we are all exhausted and then we have a big drink of water and take our naps. The third dog is small, old and blind. She informed me on my first day that we would not be wrestling together and I’ve been happy to respect her boundaries.

My foster home also has three kids between the ages of 7-13. The kids are pretty cool too! I like it when they throw toys for me to fetch, chase me in the yard or rub my belly. The kids say humans don’t like it when puppies try to play with them using their mouths and so they are teaching me not to nip when playing.

My foster Mom says I’m super smart and a good learner. I know my name and I follow her everywhere in the house. We are working on my housetraining and I don’t mean to brag, but I’m kinda awesome at outside potties! I have a big crate at my foster home and I love hanging out in it when my foster family is away at work and at night time. I sleep all curled up in there on my bed all night long without a sound. I also like my crate because if anything does get a bit to overwhelming for me, I know my crate is a safe place where I can go and just chill out.

I am a bit of a shy dog – right now what that means is I need you to give me a bit of time and space to warm up to new people and places. That leash thing my foster Mom wants me to walk on makes me nervous, so she and I practice with the leash daily. I’m not quite ready to walk on it outside of the house/yard yet, but she says I’m absolutely going to get the hang of that soon! Maybe by the time you come meet me I’ll be ready to show off my new leash skills? Once I get going on the leash, I’m going to need you to help me feel safe exploring the world with you. I can’t wait for the adventures we will have!

My foster family says whoever adopts me is going to get one of the best dogs they have ever met.  I think that’s a compliment as they seem to know a lot of dogs!

Could you be my furever person or family? I’d love to meet you!” – xo, Melon
