About Sprite

“Wanna tell me how cute I am? I’m all ears!

Hello, my name is Sprite and I’m three years old. I love rolling in the grass, snacks, running, and belly rubs. I dislike tags on my toys, furnace grates, diets, and strangers. A song that best represents me is “Come and Get Your Love” by Redbone, or the “I need attention” sound clip from TikTok.

I came a little bit overweight to AARCS, so my foster parents have me on a weight loss food and don’t share their food! I am really close to an ideal weight. One thing I do like about my weight loss journey is that my foster parents take me on SO MANY WALKS! Recently I started running and it’s my favourite thing! I love the feeling of the wind on my face, and you can tell because I smile so wide. I would love to find a running partner!

I’m a higher energy dog, I love my walks, and playing fetch for hours. I can get a little bit excitable when playing, and sometimes I don’t realize where I am biting, so I’m better off with older children. I can get into mischief if I’m not entertained. I love getting into the recycling and tearing up some cardboard, or I’ll grab a shoe, bring it to you, and let you know it’s walk time.

I am a very happy, loveable dog who loves getting attention, but I can be a little choosy about who I get attention from. When on walks, I bark at people I don’t know, usually men, but that doesn’t mean I hate all men, my foster dad is my favourite person in the world! I am just nervous about new friends. My foster parents are working on my reactivity, either distracting me with a treat (good thing I love food) or getting me to sit and do some tricks I’ve learned. It really helps me focus and get distracted by what was making me upset. A treat and a hug goes a long way to make me feel better.

Since I am nervous about making new friends, I haven’t made any puppy friends yet, I will bark aggressively at them to go away. We have tried making new friends and it didn’t go well, so I am best as the only dog right now, plus who would want to share attention? While I build some confidence, I would do best in a home that has a fully fenced yard.

If I sound like a good fit you should put in an application and “Come and Get Your Love” from bubbly Sprite!” – xo, Sprite
