Hey world, allow me to introduce myself, I am Mowatt the Silverback Poet! ‘Mowatt is my name, Fetch is my game. Fun is my “jam”, Will you be my “fam”’?

I’m a 2 year old, 60 pound lab cross and fun is my game!  Foster mom says my fur reminds her of a silverback- it glistens different colours depending on the angle. I’m full of energy, and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE toys and I LOVE fetch (which is great for the aforementioned energy!). I have an overall enthusiasm for life and I am great with other dogs. I love car rides and I love food! I like meeting new people – another chance for a new friend!  What can I say, I was born right as the world shut down for the pandemic; now that things are opening up, the world is my oyster, bring it on! I want to experience everything, and I will do it with a big smile on my face!

I am working on some manners like not jumping up and not mistaking your hand for my toy – I can’t help it, life is just so exciting! I will even entertain myself sometimes, but it’s much more fun to play with others! I pull a bit on the leash, but I love going for walks, so I am hoping that is something we can work on together! (Also, my foster mom is using a front clip harness and it is working well). I am good in my crate, and I haven’t had one accident since I arrived at my foster home.

I need an active family with a yard, as I love to play fetch and run around even after we have done activities together! Little kids might get bowled over by my enthusiasm (and my front legs), so I am likely a better match for medium sized people and up. Same thing for dogs – when I wrestle, I sometimes don’t know my size, so a dog around my size would be a good match for me. I haven’t been tested with cats, but I have heard they can be picky, and might not appreciate my unbridled enthusiasm!

One more thing, I am working on this whole “being left home alone” thing. I can be vocal, but won’t wreck your things or try to escape. So for now I would do best in separated housing with a yard and someone who is home more often than not until I can work through this!

So, if your life could use an energetic, 4-legged companion with a remarkable “joie de vivre” and your lifestyle is active enough to keep me busy,  please apply for Mowatt the Silverback Poet!  Bonus points if we can make a trip to the pet store together and I can pick out a few toys (Hint:  I will choose one of everything!!)” – xo, Mowatt
