“Hello, I’m Genie! I am a very sweet girl who loves to hang out and lounge with you, and love if you will roll around on the floor with me.

I am shy but I do like people! My foster momma says I have come a long way and she laughs at my joy of breakfast! Best meal of the day, actually any meal is the best! I have not learned that your food is not my food, because, well, it could be if I convince you with my puppy dog eyes! (Broiled cheese bread, anyone? Smells SO good!)

If there are loud noises outside (someone is building or tearing down something close by), I like to be inside because loud is scary! In the house, I like roam free and although I spend a lot of time snuggled in my crate, I like to visit the bedrooms now and help wake up the kids in the morning with my gentle sniffing. Two cats live here too and although they are not that interesting, they sometimes leave treats in their bowls for me. Rabbits? Game on! Birds? I would love to catch one! Squirrels? Oh yeah, I stalk them every morning and someday I’m gonna get one, if only they would let me get closer! (Genie came into AARCS care after reports of chasing livestock and being quilled by a porcupine.)

This leash walking is not my thing. I’m sure I could chew through that rope if given the chance to be free! If you offer me treats when I am anxious, they don’t help me feel better, cuz I need to feel safe. Scary things have wheels – they are so nerve-racking, I’d rather not take the chance at meeting one! A few times momma has taken me to woodsy places away from the paths where those alarming bikes whiz by. I love sniffathons but I don’t like leaving the woodsy areas because they feel calm and I find great places to hide!

Genie loves neck and belly scratches!  I feel she would do best in a home with a confident dog for a playmate, preferably on an acreage as she finds traffic, bikes, scooters and such, frightening. She is really coming out of her shell in the home the more comfortable she feels. She rarely barks, is more low energy and enjoys kongs and marrow bones.

Would you like a calm, quiet companion who likes to chill-out nearby? I love walks in the woods where it is peaceful away from traffic!” – xo, Genie
