Hi! My name is
I’m the Dog of the Week!
Terrier, Pit Bull/Mix
Date of Birth
May 29, 2019
This beautiful girl is Nidaan. Not much is known about her history, but a nice family took her in in a rural area when she was a stray and they could no longer keep her. She shows some evidence of prior training and is good with most common commands. She walks perfectly well on leash, is house trained and is fine to be left home alone during the day.
Nidaan is super affectionate and loves people but can be selective when making new doggie friends. She tends to get nervous with rambunctious energy, and does best with calm, neutral dogs who understand she is uncomfortable and give her space and time to learn that they mean her no harm. As Nidaan is nervous and prefers her one person, she would do best as the only dog in the home. She is non reactive on leash and can go for walks with doggy pals. Nidaan would do best in separated housing or a condo townhouse setting where she can have no shared hallways with dogs who may make her nervous.
Nidaan has shown some splitting and person-guarding behaviour with her one chosen person in both homes she’s lived in. She tends to bond to one person she trusts more than the other, and then things like her humans showing affection towards one another makes her nervous. However she is responding well to redirect cues when other people are present and a training plan to work on this.
Her ideal home would have just one person all to herself, but two people who are able to work on getting her more comfortable and trusting of both people would be a good home for her as well. Nidaan greets every person she meets like they are a long lost friend. She is a loving girl who needs a slow transition to her adoptive home and will need a couple of visits in various environments and a chat with the Behaviour Team to ensure a successful adoption.
If you want a love bug who rarely barks and needs a bit of TLC to be her best self this is your girl. Snuggles Wanted!
