“Hi! My name is Steve! I love you already and I haven’t met you. I have so much love to give and my foster humans are my best friends – I get along well with my feline roommate, too! Sometimes he cleans up when I don’t finish my dinner.
I’m a big guy (I also go by “Big Steve”), and am often told that I am unaware of my size. I don’t really know what that means, but I bump into things a lot. I also love to cuddle – beds, couches, the floor; if I can sprawl across your lap I’m there! I know that my giant teeth and big mouth can hurt my humans, so I give gentle kisses. And lots of them.
I am told that there are tiny humans but I haven’t met any – I think I’d like them. I’m told they have lots of love like me. If they’re too small though I think I’d knock them over. Medium sized humans would probably be better for me.
I like other dogs but need to go slow. And when my foster humans use the leash I get anxious. I just want to play! I actually get two leashes now because sometimes I want to play so bad I pull. Here my humans like to comment on my size again. But if I don’t pull I get cheese, so I’m working on my control. Sometimes if I see dogs and they scare me, I might give a big “woof” and try to run away. This might sound way scarier than it is, so I need a strong handler who knows a bit about leash reactivity and how to deal with it. When introduced to other dogs I have done great! I like to play, but not a huge amount, so other medium energy level dogs of similar size would be best for me.
I know my foster humans love me. I heard whispers that I might stay with them forever, but more space would be better for me. Their backyard is too small – whatever that means. I need a home with a yard, a guy like me is too big for an apartment. But! I’m excited to see where life takes me. I know I’ll love my forever humans too!” – xo, Steve
