About Orion

“Hi, my name’s Orion and I’m a lean and handsome boy with beautiful brown eyes. My foster mom says I’m very sweet natured and gentle. I enjoy getting lots of pets and belly rubs from my foster family and greeting them when they come home with one of my tall hugs. I’m fully house trained and will let my foster mom know throughout the day whenever I need to go outside.

Most of the time I’m calm and easy going, and I enjoy napping on one of the dog beds or lounging in the sun on top of the couch where I can look out the window all day. But I do get excited when I see people or dogs walk by and will bark at them from the window or in the yard. Strange noises also make me nervous and bark sometimes, so no apartments or condos would be best for me at this time.

One of my favourite things to do is going for long walks in the neighborhood or out in nature where I can stop to explore all the interesting smells. My foster mom says I walk really well on a leash and am slowly getting more comfortable with car rides.  Although I haven’t shown much interest in toys, I get along great with both resident dogs and I love to play and wrestle with the energetic younger one!

I do have a few quirks that my new family should know about and will need to be patient as they work with me through them. Although I’m very friendly and enjoy meeting new people, I can be a little nervous around men or when new people come to the house, but I eventually warm up to them on my own terms if they’re gentle with me. I will sometimes bark at people and dogs on walks if they surprise me, mostly out of fear or nervousness, and my foster mom manages this by keeping a distance or trying to distract me.

I can also get nervous and stressed sometimes if there’s too much excitement around me, so I would do best in a quiet, low-traffic household with a lot of predictability. I also sometimes like to take things out of the garbage and have chewed on some things around the house, but my foster family tries to manage this by keeping bathroom doors closed and keeping me exercised and busy. Since I can get a little nervous with loud sounds and sudden movements, it might be best if I go to a home that’s quieter and calmer, without children.

If you’re looking for a sweet, calm and gentle companion that loves to go on longs walks, then I can’t wait to meet you!” – xo, Orion
