“Hi there! My name is Xander and I am a big happy guy looking for my forever home. I like long walks, chasing toys, sunbathing and watching the world go by through my window.
I love the outdoors but really love being with my people. I have made some friends with some of my doggy and human neighbors and really like when they come over to play. I take a bit longer to warm up to men and children and sometimes use my big bark to let them know I need some space to get to know them. Now that I have been out of the kennel and in a house for a while, all my manners are really coming back to me and I love the attention and pets that I get when I show what a good boy I am.
While I love my foster parents, I would love to be in a more active home with a fenced yard and no small children. I am a pretty chill guy, but I can get excited and I forget that I am a pretty big boy! I sometimes jump and whine when walking and I see another dog, but it’s just because I get so excited and really want to say hi! My foster parents say I have come a long way from when they first got me…but I’ll let them tell you about that. Hope to meet you soon!” – xo, Xander
Xander is a beautiful, loving dog who is fully house trained, does not chew, has great recall and knows sit, down, and drop it. He is learning to walk with a loose leash and does very well with liver treats as a reminder/reward. He can get overly focused when he is walking and sees dogs or kids close by and did reverse out of his harness once to go meet a dog. The meeting was cordial and he just needs to work on this with a strong, patient handler and some treats to redirect him (P.S. they are good buddies now that they have met!)
Xander is wary of some men and children and may bark and back away, but he has warmed up to everyone that he has met with proper introductions. A house without children would probably be best. He is playful and sweet and loves to be petted. He likes playing but he also likes to relax at the feet of his people or entertain himself with his toys. We love the big guy and know that his perfect match is out there waiting to give him the home and love that he deserves.
