Hi! My name is
I’m an Animal in Care at AARCS
Siberian Husky/Collie, Smooth/Mix
Date of Birth
December 11, 2011
She likes to go for walks but nothing too strenuous; she isn’t a kid anymore! She enjoys her walks on pavement and grass but isn’t a fan of deep snow or water. She isn’t exactly a mountain adventure dog and her ideal human likes to curl up on the couch with a good book after a leisurely stroll. She’s quiet and calm, the perfect couch companion! She sleeps willingly in a crate at night but will also sleep happily on a dog bed. She is a fluffy girl so she does get warm quickly and doesn’t really like sleeping with her people on their bed because of this.
Her foster home has a cat and she pretty much ignores him but would definitely eat his food if it was left within reach. As for other dogs, she whines when she sees them on walks and seems to want to meet them but can be a little overwhelmed if they bark or are very high energy. If there are resident dogs in her adoptive home, there should be a meet and greet to make sure they aren’t too overwhelming for her. She’s an even-tempered lady who is loving and gentle. Her general obedience is something she’s working on but she’s getting much better over time with commands like “sit”. Now that she’s feeling better, her goofy personality is beginning to blossom. She likes to meet new people slowly and tends to be nervous of children she sees while out walking.
She has arthritis in her hips which is currently being managed but she would do best in a home with limited stairs or no stairs at all. She will climb stairs with some encouragement but we can see it’s not easy for this lady to climb lots of stairs. She hasn’t barked in her foster home so she’s very quiet and she’s reliably house trained. She walks well on a leash and though she gets excited about squirrels, she does not become unruly or difficult to handle.
Feliz would be a perfect companion for anyone who likes walks but also likes to kick back, relax, and snooze. Want to gaze into her stormy blue and brown eyes while you snuggle on the couch? Feliz is your girl!
