About Carol

Carol is a petite little girl weighing in at only about 25 lbs, and is affectionately called ‘Little Chicken’ or ‘Chickadee’ by her foster mom. She is young, playful, loves to cuddle, and likes being around other dogs. She was under-socialized prior to coming into care, and is quite timid and fearful at first but has been making great strides.

Carol will need a patient adoptive home – one who understands the need to give her space, go slow, and take their time with her. When she first arrived in foster care 8 weeks ago, she didn’t come out of her ‘room’ for about a week as she needed time to adjust to the new space, new person, and new dogs. Since then, her confidence has been growing on a daily basis! She follows her foster mom everywhere, enjoys chewing on bones and playing with toys, loves snuggling up on the couch, and has just started to explore the outdoors.

At this time, she uses washable pee pads but she is starting to venture outside with the other dogs and we are confident she will continue to be brave and try new things like exploring the backyard. Unfortunately with the current pandemic situation, she hasn’t had the chance to meet many new people. Introductions to new houseguests would need to happen slowly and she would do best in a home without a lot of foot traffic and without kiddos. A single person or couple would be her ideal family, along with a fully fenced yard with no more than a few stairs from the door to the yard. Carol is a ‘work in progress’, but aren’t we all?
