About Boomer

Big Brown goofball with a big heart looking for humans to cuddle with!

“I’m Boomer, aka Boomy (aka foster mom’s shadow ), and yes, I do know my name and act it too. I am a cuddler, but being big, I can be a bit clumsy but that is to be expected as I am only a year old and still growing into my body.

I am very curious about the world around me. On walks, my nose is to the ground, so I do tend to pull at times but with training I have become much better. I am learning to sit and wait at crosswalks. My foster mom is teaching me to drop objects I shouldn’t be putting in my mouth. When I first moved in with my foster family, I was very nervous on walks as I was in a new place with strange people. It took me couple of days to realize that walks are fun!

I am house and leash trained but I don’t like the kennel much. While my foster family works from home these days with COVID and stuff, they do have to leave the house every so often. When they do, I am in my kennel.  I do protest when they leave as I want to go with them. I now know they will be back soon, so I settle down for a nice nap with my foster sister. I need another dog in the home to help show me the ropes – I love other dogs! I’ll also need separated housing with a yard so I can run and play, and can meet people on my own accord.

I love to make new friends. I get along with all the dogs I have met so far, except my foster sister. For some reason she doesn’t want to play with me as much as I want to play with her. I understand older siblings can be like that sometimes. Plus, we have very different styles of playing. But she has taught me not to fear loud sounds, barking dogs or new people. Though I must confess I am still not very sure about humans, so I bark and let them know not to approach me unless we have been properly introduced.

I know all the basic commands and I am good with them at home. I know how to sit and wait for my food. I am learning to stay out of mom’s way when she is in the kitchen with sharp objects and hot stuff that could hurt me. When my foster parents call Boomer I run to them even if I am napping. I love treats so I guess its easy for me to learn new tricks. However, in a new environment I get so excited that I forget everything I know. It’s the puppy in me.

Did I mention I love food…unfortunately, I am on a prescription diet. It’s supposed to help with my skin allergies and I must take pills everyday to stop the itching.

I feel I am ready to go to my furever home where I can get and receive lots and lots of cuddles, run, play and learn how to be the best dog I can be. I hope you can be that furever, happy home for me!!!” – xo, Boomer
