“Hi There! My name is Lavelle and I’m going to make you a promise. From the second you meet me, my love and affection are going to wash over you, and we will never want to be apart. When I came to my foster family, I was completely covered in mange but thankfully that’s almost completely gone and my coat is growing back beautifully. Because of this, is I’m now a pro in the tub and taking baths; even though I don’t like them very much.
I love people! I’m part German Shepherd and part Collie so I have a strong motivation to be around you, and herd my family unit together. My perfect family is where there’s always someone at home with lots of people for me to shower with love and kisses. I will go into the crate, and can tolerate some alone time, but I really don’t like it and would rather be out with you. I’m eight months old and still growing and am already a big dog, and I’ll get a little bit bigger still. To that end, if there’s little ones in the house with me, please give me some reinforcement and patience while I finish learning my manners around them. Sometimes I forget just how big I am compared to babies and toddlers. Oh, I’m also fully house trained and let you know when I need to go outside to the bathroom.
I’m incredibly intelligent, and very eager to train and learn new tricks and skills. I’m also very food motivated. I’m happy to announce that I’m no longer a food hoarder and have worked very hard with my foster family to overcome this. As a puppy, I’m also still quite energetic. I will need to go for long walks, or have a large back yard where I can run. Speaking of walks, I’m doing very well in my progression learning leash manners. I’m still working on the heel command and not pulling on my leash, but I’m so much better compared to when I started, and with continuous guidance I know I’m going to master my walking manners before I turn a year old. I’m very friendly, and playful, and I love chasing the cat around my foster home. Unfortunately, he’s older and doesn’t really like that. I never mean any harm and I’m not going to hurt him, so if there’s a play partner at my new home it would be best that they have the same attitude I do and can reciprocate play. When I’m not playing, my very favorite spot is either napping on the couch by myself, napping on the couch in your lap, napping at your feet, or napping with you in the bed.
My foster family keeps telling me that I’m the perfect dog for a family who might be missing some extra love and attention. I hope that’s you! I’ll make you a second promise. Once we’re together, I’m going to brighten your world, fill your heart with joy and love every single day for the rest of our lives.” – xo, Lavelle
