About Tink

Hi, please meet Tink! She is a 1 year old Chihuahua who came into AARCS’ care from another organization as she was scared and afraid in their shelter.

Tink is a loving, sweet girl who loves attention, but only after she gains your trust. Her reaction to new people is a bit overwhelming as she will growl and bark, so her new family needs to have a good understanding of fearful dog body language, and fearful Chihuahua tendencies.

A person who has experience with small dog reactivity would be an asset to Tink’s future, as she will sometimes do things like guard her favourite person’s lap. She may take a little bit of time to warm up to new people, but once she gets to know you she will trust you. She will need a home who will give her space and time to get used to her new humans and surroundings. She will be scared and will initially resort to hiding away from anyone.

Tink would be her absolute happiest as your one and only, in a home with a single quiet person with no other pets. She currently lives with other dogs and older children but she is not a fan of all the traffic, although eventually she has started to play with the older smaller dog in the family. We think she would do okay in a home with one, or potentially two, other small, calm dogs who wouldn’t take offense to her being a little defensive at times.

Because she can be fearful, detached homes are best with a secured yard so she cannot get scared and sneak away. No kids in the home for this little girl! An older and quieter home would be best to make her feel comfortable.

At only 5lbs, it’s no wonder she is afraid of the world sometimes! But when Tink loves you, she loves you hard, and she just wants to go home with you and be your best friend!
