Slightly timid

Hi, I’m Mr Kitty!

I’ve taken my time to evaluate this foster situation and decided that this gig as ‘study cuddle buddy’ suits me pretty well!  I reward snuggles and pets from my familiar humans with gentle slow love bites and hugs, and it doesn’t take much to get my purrs rolling and my paws kneading away in my cozy spot at the foot of the bed.  I don’t even mind being picked up, as long as you show me there’s no rush involved. 

The vet also prescribed me some exercise – not usually my jam, but how could I resist the temptation of the dangling fish with the feather tail?   I forget my dignity and commitment to the cozy lounge life pretty quickly if someone’s willing to play with me a few times a day – I really hope my forever family can do this too! 

I must have had a nice life before I came to AARCS because I am healthy and clean, and seem very comfortable in my foster as a house pet.  It only took me a day to finish giving myself a really thorough bath on arrival (I was a little scruffy after the ride from the shelter but feeling clean now!)

I had zero trouble figuring out that food is for eating (on my schedule of course), litter is for ‘business’ and scattering across the floor, windows are for watching out of and scratching posts are the only thing I really care to scratch. 

The shelter staff thought I was REALLY shy, but in fact I was just patiently waiting to have a little more space and respectful housemates before I could get my bearings.  My foster family is pretty cool – it didn’t take me long to learn my study buddy’s habits, and I’ve started running up to her and gently pawing her leg for attention when she arrives because her snuggles are the best.  She is also helping me to rediscover my playful (and thinner) side by getting me to leap and jump around after toys a few times a day. 

As for the rest of my housemates, they don’t mind that I zip to my safe cubby or kennel if I’m startled because I quickly forget their rudeness and purr when they reach in for a quick apology cuddle a minute or two later!
