Extremely shy

Well, hello! Thanks for stopping to read my profile. My name is Flora, and I’m as pretty as a picture. I have that irresistible torbie colouring, and my fur is very shiny and silky. Of course, you can see that from my photos but what you can’t see is my personality, which is pretty big!

When I came to my foster home not long ago, I was so scared that I immediately climbed into a hidey hole. For a week, I stayed there all day and came out at night to eat (I love my food!); use the litter box (faithfully); and play with toys from the toy box. By morning, I was back in my safe spot, where I could hear everything that was going on. It’s pretty quiet around here, but my foster mom talked to me a lot and called me quite a bit to coax me out. Finally, I decided to get brave and explore the bedroom one night. I even jumped up onto the bed. It turns out that I had been kind of silly staying in my hiding place so long because I missed out on A LOT of pets and scratches. I rolled around on the bed, purred a lot and enjoyed all the attention I got. I never went back to my hidey hole.

Sudden movements and noises can startle me, but I recover right away and often go to check out what’s going on. Recently, however, a couple of people came to our house, and I got so scared! In a panic, I ran and hid. I only came out long after they left, and I was still very nervous for quite a while. Other people in our house was definitely new for me, and I didn’t like it one bit!

I’m a very chatty girl, and sometimes I get a bit loud, but I love it when someone chats with me. I’m also very active and love to run and play. Sometimes I get a bit too excited, so that means I need a rest from being touched until I can calm down. Even though I like a lot of petting, it’s often better to only pet me a little bit at a time so that I don’t get overexcited. A bit of patience is appreciated.

I love to explore every little thing and watch whatever is happening outside the window. When I get tuckered out, I’m happy to curl up on a lap and have a long snooze. Some purring is involved!
