When Thatcher first arrived at AARCS, he was nervous and unsure—understandable, given the large neck wound he came in with. But this brave boy has healed beautifully and shown just how loving and trusting he can be once he feels safe. Thatcher is a gentle soul who warms up quickly—especially when treats are involved! He’s very food-motivated, which makes building trust and working on training a fun and rewarding process. While we don’t know much about his past, Thatcher has shown that he absolutely loves being around people and thrives on companionship.

He enjoys outdoor time, brushing sessions, and enrichment like snuffle mats that keep his brain and body busy. When tested with other dogs in the shelter, Thatcher was a bit unsure but remained calm and respectful. With proper introductions, he would likely do well in a home with a calm, well-mannered dog who can help him feel secure without overwhelming him. He may get a little excitable at times, but it’s all part of his big, loving personality. With patience, continued training, and a calm, caring environment, Thatcher will no doubt blossom into a loyal, happy companion.
