Hi! My name is
Rutabaga
I have an Adoption Application Pending!
About Rutabaga
Rutabaga is an adorable & cautiously friendly furpuff who is looking for an experienced home. He is very sweet & will come to take treats from your hand, but is a bit unsure about being touched or handled. He warms up to people once he gets to know them, so it takes some time & patience to earn his trust. He does have some challenges that will require a bit of extra TLC, but he is well worth the effort!
He is a very active boy who will need a large enclosure set up as a fun chinchilla playground. His dream home will have a wheel to run on, perches to hop around on & hammocks & houses to curl up in.
Rutabaga is quite thin & can be fussy, so he needs to be encouraged to eat. He is offered a variety of hays, timothy treats, dried herbs & flowers & occasionally a bit of dried fruit or a cheerio.
While Chinchillas are social creatures, we believe in the past he may have been housed with another chinchilla who bullied him. His ears have been torn up from previous fights & he is also missing several toes. We are unsure if he would be able to successfully integrate with another Chinchilla or should remain solo.
If you are committed to providing Rutabaga with a loving home where he will be spoiled, please fill out an application so we can chat!
My adoption fee is: $125
Adoption fee with his CN enclosure is $180

Do I Need Special Care?
Yes - We are looking for an owner with chinchilla experience, as Rutabaga is a special case. He has been passed around from home to home and is missing most of his toes on all four paws, likely due to trauma, so he requires extra padding and bedding to keep him comfortable. He is also very thin and needs an owner who is focused and able to work on helping him gain weight. Rutabaga can be a picky eater, so he needs consistency and routine weigh-ins to monitor his progress. He cannot be housed with another chinchilla and needs to remain solo, but he will require a lot of attention and interaction from his human caregivers. He would do best in a home without small children as Chinchillas are very sensitive and fragile creatures, so inappropriate handling can be cause for concern.
