About Ledger
I’m so glad that my fierce good looks and kind eyes have caught your attention. I am looking for a family to call all my own and you look like you might be the one!!
I was named Ledger at AARCS, but my foster family calls me Lenny. Or Leonard if I am being particularly full of puppy mischief 😉
I am a handsome and kind little fella focused on fun, love, loyalty and learning. Did you notice my eyes? They are a really unique shade for a pooch which emphasizes how extra special I am. I have polka dot paws, a brown beard under my chin with a white goatee and my ears demonstrate an impressive range of motion as I process the day and tell you what I need. My tail has a white tip at the end and it rarely stops wagging.
At my foster house I have a foster dog brother and I love to play and wrestle with him. We like to have some games- wrestling and chase- and then lay down for a snooze together. I also have 3 human foster siblings who fill my heart with joy. We play, we snuggle, and most of all we love each other a LOT. Sometimes if they are late getting up in the morning, I lay outside their doors and wait for them because I want to see them as soon as I can!
Did I mention that I LOVE being outside? I have met cats, birds and squirrels and am curious but not interested in chasing them. Exploring and adventures are great, but I also just love just chilling out in the sun on the deck.
I enjoy dog toys, my current favourites being my ball, and my antler and hard chews. I also love a good stuffy especially if it has a squeaker in it. I am learning to play fetch and love the game because it gives me a chance to show off my quick legs and excellent pouncing skills. Shoes and furniture are safe with me though I may, occasionally, steal a dirty sock if you happen to leave one laying about. I have learned not to bite or chew on human ankles or hands and am quickly learning to not jump on people when I am excited. I can sit and am trying to figure out that ‘shake a paw’ business. All pretty impressive given what a young fella I am!!
I am a medium energy pooch – When it’s play time or there’s an opportunity to adventure I like to go for it, but can read the room to shift into a lower gear if that’s what’s going on. Snuggling with a TV show or book before bedtime is a highlight.
During the day I mostly sleep on my pillow. If I can find a sunbeam, even better. I like to be close to my family but can be left home alone for short periods of time without causing any trouble. If my family is away for a longer time, I have been practicing staying in my crate. I won’t lie- at first I was really lonely and afraid and I howled a bit to try to call them back. Now that I am used to it, I know that my family will come back soon and I like to just rest and have a snooze. I head in there readily when its time and while I wait I am quiet and patient. I’ve even learned that my crate is my own special place in our home so I have started to go in there on my own when I feel like I’d like some quiet private time.
At night I sleep on a pillow beside my Foster Mum. She enjoys that a lot, as I make lots of cute little groans and sighs when I sleep (I am just so warm and safe and comfortable!!) and they are nice sounds for my family to hear to know that I am content and I love them. I sleep through the night so don’t worry- I will let you get your rest!!. Once in a while I have had too much water before bed and have needed the loo in the night- if that happens, I will softly whimper to let you know I am desperate and can’t wait until morning. And don’t worry- I will be quick about my business so we can get back to sleep.
Speaking of which, I should highlight one of my major puppy qualities- which is that I am housetrained!! Pretty amazing, I know, since I am so young, but it just shows how clever I am. I sit and look out the backdoor when I need to go outside and can already wait a couple of hours without needing to do any outside business.
I am happy here with my foster family and they love me A LOT, but they aren’t able to keep 2 dogs so I eventually need a family all to myself. If you are looking for a loyal, fun and loving friend, maybe you will come to meet me? I can’t wait to snuggle and nuzzle and play with you to see if we are a forever match.
I love you already” – Ledger.
