About Desmond

This precious boy is in search of a forever family who will provide the patience, love, and understanding he needs to build his confidence and reveal his true self.

“Hello I’m Desmond! The amazing AARCS team found and rescued me and gave me a safe place to stay. At first I was extremely timid but I’m quickly starting to come out of his shell. I’m most comfortable with women and prefer if you’re sitting on the floor with him. I’m can still get scared and if startled I cower and hide. But, I’m getting braver every day and as I get to know you, I can’t get enough cuddles and I love to play. Nothing makes me happier than spending time with other dogs; I like to play with them, and I feel safest when they’re by my side.

I can spend the night in a penned in area with a crate alone and I’ll even let you sleep in. I’ve just started to learn how to leash walk and already I can do a longer 40-60 min walk now.  I’ve even gone to a hockey rink where I got to run and play with dogs and I loved it. I came right back to my human when they called for me.

I prefer to eat away from humans, maybe under the table, somewhere safe. I am a huge fan of toys, but not teddy bears, I like the kind of toy I can really chew on and pull apart. I am great at solving puzzles, especially when there’s treats involved. I am haven’t started any dog training yet but I’m a clever guy who is food motivated and responds well to praise so I’m sure I will learn quickly.

I’ve almost got this house-training thing completely figured out, but I’ve had a couple of accidents with a solid routine I should be fully house trained soon.  I haven’t been exposed to little children yet and while there is a cat in the house we don’t really spend too much time together.

I would love a family with a fenced yard and another dog for me to play with!” – xo, Desmond
