Meet Meeko, the Lovable Australian Cattle Dog/Heeler!

“Hello there, lovely humans! My name is Meeko, and I’m an adorable 1-year-old Australian Cattle Dog/Heeler, eagerly searching for my forever home and family. Let me tell you a little bit about myself so you can see why I’m the perfect companion for you!

First things first, I want you to know that I’m a super smart and affectionate pup. I respond to my name and am learning to respond to sit & come. I’ve been trained to do my business outside, but I’m also familiar with using pee pads indoors if necessary. I’ve got great sleeping habits too, as I sleep peacefully throughout the night, providing you with a restful slumber too!

Barking? Nah, that’s not really my style, unless I’m bursting with excitement, in which case a little “woof” might escape. But don’t worry, it’s all part of my cheerful nature! I haven’t been formally tested with cats or children yet, so I’m not sure how I’d react, but I’m willing to learn and adapt. I also haven’t been formally tested with other dogs, but I’ve only had positive encounters with dogs I’ve met on walks, so I think I will enjoy making new furry friends.

Now, here’s something you should know about us Australian Cattle Dogs: we have a natural instinct to gently nip and herd, especially when we’re showing our affection. It’s just our way of saying, “You’re part of my pack, and I want to keep you safe!” But don’t worry, I’m learning to control my excitement and keep all four paws on the ground.

Speaking of paws, I had a previous left hind leg injury, but don’t let that fool you! I take two pills twice a day for pain, which I take really well if you drop them in my food. I’ve been cleared by the veterinarian, and there’s no functional restrictions for me. Sometimes, when I’m really speedy, I might still use three legs to dash around, but it’s all in good fun. It doesn’t slow me down or dampen my spirit at all!

I would be thrilled to accompany you on 1-2 walks every day. I’m great on a leash and always eager to explore the world alongside you. As long as I am taken on walks, I behave well inside the home, even when no one’s around. A home with a fenced yard would be like a dream come true for me, as I could roam and play to my heart’s content while keeping safe.
