“Hello my name is Taffeta but my foster parents call me Maggie!

I came to AARCS with some dental issues, which led to me having some teeth removed, but now I have a BEAUTIFUL SMILE. Sometimes my lips get stuck to reveal my bottom teeth, it’s guaranteed to get a smile out of you.

I am a shelter favourite because I am so sweet and loveable. When I visit AARCS, all the volunteers have to give me pets and say hi! My foster parents call me spunky. I love to play, specifically ball, and I could play fetch for hours! I also will give little whines or barks if I want something. I am very smart, and try to communicate. When I want my treat ball refilled, I go to my human, show them the ball and then walk towards where the food is kept to show what I want. My foster parents will ask where this treat ball is and I’ll look frantically for it to bring it to them. I love pets, specifically belly rubs and butt scritches. My favourite part of the day is when my foster mom says good morning to me and we cuddle in bed and I get belly rubs.

I also enjoy my walks. I’ve been doing some on leash training, and it’s been going well. I am also potty trained and I am good at asking to go out. I’ve only had one accident in the house. Other things I need to work on are some people manners. I just get so excited to see a new friend I want to jump up and give them kisses!

I’ve had a couple play dates with other dogs, and I would love to have a sibling! I do need proper introductions first, but after that, we’re fast friends. If I don’t have a sibling, I’ll need a fairly active family that can help me get out some energy with play and walks!

AARCS and my foster parents figured out I have an allergy to chicken and turkey. It makes me itchy and makes me lick my paws, but I’ve been on a duck diet for a little bit and it’s helped a ton!
