Hi! My name is
Date of Birth
April 24, 2022
I’m a happy, energetic pup that is eager to please and very smart. Because I wasn’t given much guidance in my first home, I’m still working on learning basic doggo manners like not to jump up when I’m happy and not to put my front paws on the counter. I’m just curious to know what’s up there! I’m still working with my foster parents on not putting people’s hands in my mouth. Older kids who are confident around dogs and won’t fall over if I jump on them, would be okay with me. I’m getting better day by day and am easily redirected with treats.
I’ve almost got this house training thing completely figured out, but I’ve had a couple of accidents while learning and getting used to new environments. With the solid routine in my foster home, I’ve become very good at scratching at the back door when I want to go out.
Tricks for treats? Don’t have to ask me twice. I’ve learned so many tricks in no time at all. My foster parents say that I learn tricks faster than any of their four resident dogs! Speaking of dogs, because I’m still a puppy, I try to play with other dogs a lot. The calm medium and large dogs in my foster home don’t seem to mind, but the small dog didn’t like it when I tried to play with him. Sometimes I get too excited and scare other dogs off because I’ve got so much love to give and can’t wait to introduce myself properly before playing. The calm, older resident dogs in my foster home have been great role models for me. Another pup friend like this in my furever home would be a-okay with me!
I’m an athletic pup so daily walks are a must! I don’t pull on the leash, don’t react to other dogs and if I see a squirrel or a cat, I stop and look at them for a brief moment before moving on. If there is a leaf blowing in the wind on the ground, hang on tight cause I love to chase them! Sometimes on my walks I get so excited that I start to grab and bite my leash. A brief pause and redirection with a treat calms me down and we are back on our way. I would make an excellent adventure buddy for someone who likes walking and hiking. I’m a brilliant boy so things like agility or scent tracking would be great activities for me too! You can tell there is Labrador in my blood because of how much I love water. Give me a lake, river or even a puddle and I’ll go right in. I love enrichment as a way to work my brain when we can’t go for as long of walks. Lick mats, snuffle mats, toys, bully sticks and Kongs are my favourite ways to think for food!
During the day when my foster parents go to work and at night when it’s bedtime, I get to nap in the crate. I go in with the words “go crate!” and get a cookie as a reward. I do miss my people so I complain for the first 2-5 min they are gone, but once everyone is out of sight, I’m happy to snooze.
I have so much love to give my new furever family and would make the best side kick. Because I’m a smart, young pup, I can really be molded into the best doggo to fit your lifestyle. I can’t wait for you to apply to adopt me! Our adventure starts here!” – xo, Lok
