About Nori

“I’m gentle and sweet, a little shy with humans at first, and will be a mellow, mature companion.

Hi, I’m Nori! I’m gentle, calm, and beautiful, with chocolatey brown eyes and a soft ebony coat that just begs to be touched. I think my superpower is being a stellar, constant companion to humans who show me love and affection.

I’m middle-aged, so I’ve gained much wisdom over the years. First, I’ve learned that it’s best to observe human strangers for a while before showering them with my abundance of love. It only takes a few minutes, though, before I’m sniffing them and asking them to pet my silky ears. They soon fall in love with me. How could they not, with my sweet nature and peaceful demeanor!

After a few days of exploring my new neighborhood, I adjusted quickly to my foster home. My new human friends have yet to hear me bark, even when the doorbell rings. I had almost no separation anxiety in the first couple of days, and I quickly learned that my foster mom would always come back. Of course, I prefer to have human company, but now I’m perfectly fine when left alone for an hour or two.

It took a few days for my foster mom to realize that I’m not crazy about brisk walking. Personally, I think she needs to slow down, and I’m happy to oblige. So I sniff and doddle to allow her to practice mindfulness and take pleasure in the clouds and trees and sunshine and snow, like I do. I don’t mind at all walking on leash, as long as the pace is reasonable. If you’re looking for someone to entice you outside a few times a day so that you can enjoy the beauty around you, I’m the one for you.

Now, let’s talk about other dogs. I’m curious about them and I enjoy the sniffing ritual when I meet them, but I don’t get all jumpy and rambunctious. That’s for puppies! I also don’t initiate conflict. I’m all for peace on Earth, so that’s what I practice when I meet someone, whether canine or human. Of course, the sight of a rabbit or a squirrel perks me up a bit, but I’m too mature to show a predatory interest in them. Peace on Earth, remember?

My perfect home will be with someone who appreciates my calm, gentle nature and is willing to give me lots of love and cuddles. I might even enjoy having a canine friend in the home. My history is somewhat mysterious, but it seems that no one took the time to teach me basic commands, and I’d be willing to learn a few. But I’m so mellow and amenable that you’ll find me doing what you ask even without me knowing human words.

So if you need a loyal, loving presence in your life who will fill your home with peace, you just may have found her!”
