    Story

Hi everyone! This is Kimmel. She is timid and shy to begin with, but if you give her time and space she will use that to build some trust with you. Kimmel was rescued from a hoarding situation. Her only interactions with humans then was to be captured and placed in kennels, which understandably created this fear of the unknown. Having Kimmel with our family/pack has definitely helped her come out of her shell over the last couple weeks!

Kimmel initially had two foster doggie-sisters, Simba a 5 yr old Shepherd/Heeler Mix and Sona a 7 month old Shepherd Mix and 1 human foster sister (7 yrs) with whom she had tended to keep to herself. Then we brought home a puppy foster and Kimmel has since been more active in being involved with the pack; going out to the yard to watch her pack play while she enjoyed sniffing the air and soaking up the sun and coming up to sniff and nose-boop us here and there! Kimmel needs to go to a home with another smaller breed dog or puppy to help show her the ropes.

Kimmel is house-trained and she would do well in a safely guarded yard, or pee-pads in the home. Because she is fearful and not fully walking on leash yet, she needs a home with a yard so she can safely go in and out. She is also very food motivated which helps build trust when you hand feed her treats and parts of her meal. Kimmel is working on being handled, however we see tremendous improvements on a daily basis! She does enjoy a good cuddle once she is comfortable and trusts you! Kimmel is looking for a home that can offer her lots of patience and love so she can work on building that trust, knowing she is safe and can be herself when the time is right!
