This is Rusty your pilot here. Thanks for choosing my profile, I promise to not disappoint. It’s a gorgeous sunny summer day on our route today to my furever home. I hope you’re as excited to get to our destination as I am.
I’m an older guy, about 8 years old, but I’m still young at heart. I love to go for walks, but my legs are little so not super long walks please. I also love the river, my favorite thing to do is dip my paws in, sunbath, and supervise your shenanigans. Not a huge fan of the swimming so I’ll leave that part up to you. I’ll even show you my little happy dance when you get my leash out, my foster parents say it’s pretty dang cute. But I’m pretty dang cute so everything I do is cute.
On that note of being cute, you know what else is cute? House trained dogs! I’m a mature dude, I know the house isn’t the place to go. I’ll happily pee on EVERYTHING when you take me out, I have to let everyone know the world is mine. I’ll hold it all while you go out and do those human related tasks, in fact, I’ll just sleep while you’re away.
Ok please return to your seats and fasten your seat belts as I, your pilot, have turned the seat belt sign on as we go through this turbulence. Hey flight attendants isn’t this your job? I’m a lazy boy and these announcements are just soooooo much work. I am pretty darn perfect but no one is 100% perfect. I’m ashamed to admit it, but I somehow have yet to reach that untouchable, absolutely perfect, Beyonce level yet. My foster family says I would benefit from going to some training classes *scoff* how dare you imply I’m not a perfectly behaved boy. They claim I don’t quite have my basic obedience down, but I’m making amazing progress on it. Right now I know how to sit, but I’m a grumpy old man and do it on MY own terms. Bribe me the right way and I’ll get this thic booty on the floor (taking tips from my main girl Beyonce). Old dogs sure can learn new tricks, but I’m a lazy boy so it might take some time. I’m also a little bit of a thicc boy, my foster fam is trying to help me shed some of these pounds. Something about how dogs don’t need to fluff up for winter, I’ve been promised a cute sweater if I get chilly once I lose this natural insulation. They make sure I don’t eat too much food (I’m not happy about this one, I WILL use my puppy dogs eyes to convince you I’m starving) and go on walks but I really do love those. I promise to show you my best happy foot dance every time you mention that “w” word. Also you’ve seen my gorgeous hair right? This boy can rock a mohawk with these long locks on my head, and wow a crowd with my gorgeous curls. I’m going to need some spa days though, this much beauty doesn’t just maintain itself you know! I’m an angel in the bath though, I’m super happy to have you pet me while you put all that weird soap stuff in my fur. I’ll need some haircuts to keep all the food out of my beard, gotta keep that handsome face looking clean. I also LLOOOVEEE to be brushed, good thing I do because my curly hair gets all tangled if I go a few days without being brushed. Oh and I hope if you have another critter in the house they know their manners! I’m a big believer in the personal bubble, I’m NOT a fan of things getting in my face. I like having them around, having friends is ok I guess, but PLEASE give me my space.
Phew, turbulence over! Back to our nice relaxing trip. If you look on over to my photos you’ll see just how dashing I am. See that smile? Ya I show that off a lot. I just love life, I love pets, I love food, I love walks, I love sun tanning, and I already love you for making it this far in my novel! I’m so excited to meet my new family, I just have so much to say. My foster family has almost had me for two months now so I’ve had a lot to tell them about how to find my perfect home. Is it you?
We’ve had the pleasure of having rusty for almost two months now, he came into care when his family stumbled upon some lifestyle changes. He settled in within an hour of coming home! He’s the king of the castle, er, the bed, and the couch, and the various dog beds. He sure knows how to nap, not sure if he loves naps or walks more. He would be a great adventure dog! He loves car rides where he can stick his head out and sniff to his hearts delight. Have you seen him at any of our AARCS events? He LOVES them! He uses his adorable charm to get all the attention he craves, he cannot get enough of it. At home he just lounges around, lets us know when he needs to pee, cuddles up, is a pillow hog, and is just the sweetest boy. We have three other dogs in the house ranging from size XXS-M, he doesn’t mind them as long as they give him his space. He is not happy when his foster sister (AARCS Missy Elliot) gets in his personal bubble or tries to play. We would recommend having another calm dog in the house, if any. He’s not the type of dog to play with others, but he will go to town on a cow hoof and some other toys. He’s an absolutely lovely boy and will make you soooooo happy. We would keep him if we could! Come meet him! Trust me, you won’t regret meeting this old man <3
