Hi, I’m Raquel and it is so lovely to make your acquaintance! Did you know that my name is the Spanish and Portuguese form of Rachel, and means “ewe”. No, not ‘ew’ like unpleasant! Ewe as in female sheep, which is quite fitting seeing as I am a Collie mix!
With help from the wonderful team at AARCS, I am currently recovering from FHO surgery – short for ‘Femoral Head Ostectomy’, which you’ll have to ask the medical staff about for details since I never quite made it into med school… All I know is that it was to help me with my pain and mobility. I’m well on the road to recovery and re-learning to use my hind legs properly once again. Long term, supportive supplements like glucosamine are a good idea for me, but I don’t anticipate having any special needs once I’m all healed up.
Now, onto for my forever family… I’d love to find a home that will continue to help me heal, with plenty of love, comfortable places to rest, and plenty of walks! (Keeping in mind how my legs are feeling that day, of course!) I love people and the more time you can spend with me, the better! With proper introductions, I might do well around larger dogs, however small animals are a big no from me, and children should be on the older side of things.
Please keep an eye out for when I will be ready to go home and apply to learn more about me if you’re interested!
