This is Bear. Right now, he’s a low-energy, medium-sized dog at about 45 pounds. I suspect he’ll get a bit bigger yet, as his paws are quite large and he’s less than a year old. He’s very affectionate and loves to be hugged and petted. He loves people and doesn’t seem bothered by other dogs. He’s house-trained, knows COME and is learning SIT and STAY. We are addressing some of his less than desirable traits such as counter-surfing and begging. On the other hand, his food motivation should make it easier for him to develop good habits. At present, he’s being treated for a large open wound on his back, so he’s living the quiet life with limited movement and daily cleansing. Once he’s ready for adoption, he should be fine in any household.
Bear was attacked by other dogs and the skin around the wound became necrotic. Once he was in AARCS care, the damaged tissue was removed and now it will slowly be stitched back together again as it heals.
