Hello! I am going to be a BIG lad with a BIGGER personality!
When Zazu first came to AARCS, he was in very rough condition, with swollen eyes and extremely sore skin. Now that he’s almost 100% recovered, he’s a handsome, bright-eyed, energetic boy looking to give his heart and soul to his forever home!
Zazzy already has some very impressive moves. He sleeps great through the night, is fine occupying himself all day while you are at work with his own toys, is fully house trained, knows sit, stay, wait, lie down, and just loves playing fetch! He is working on his leash walking, but with the right harness he is improving all the time. He also enjoys some alone time in his crate, and is happy to spend time in there amusing himself with his toys.
Zaz does still have some things to work on though, and as an adolescent he is always testing his boundaries. Although he is generally well natured and very affectionate, he is very protective of his own space and humans, and needs to work on feeling confident when new people enter his space. Although things are going well between him and the resident dog, Zazzy often shows signs of asserting dominance. If his future family has a resident dog, it would be best if they were fairly calm and would need a slow introduction with lots of space.
With the right home and training we are sure Zazu will become a confident sociable dog. He is very smart, but requires an experienced home with humans that are going to be dedicated to training. He would be okay with an calm/easy going resident dog, but no young children at this time. AARCS has put together a wonderful and fun confidence building training plan for him, that has worked very well in his foster home.
With lots of treats and a slow, steady hand, Zazu will continue to blossom into a secure, confident pupper!
