    Story Update October 11, 2018:

I’ve recovered from my eye & dental surgery beautifully and, although I have no teeth left, am still a really good chow hound and love my new soft foods. Although I love my foster mom, I’m definitely more partial to the man of the house and snuggle up near him every chance I get and follow him everywhere. Mom says I’m such a soft little fuzzy cuddle-bug, probably ’cause I keep her feet warm at night!

My name is Poe but my foster mom and dad call me BEAU because they say I’m so beautifully behaved!

Through no fault of my own, I was surrendered to AARCS and I’m adjusting slowly but wonderfully in my foster home. I’m currently awaiting a minor “cherry eye” and dental surgery and, once I’m through recovery, will be looking for my forever home. In my foster home, I’ve not had a single accident (they have a doggy door which I love, but I will stand by the door and stare at you until you notice me if there isn’t one.) I know some basic commands like ‘sit’, ‘lay down’ and ‘shake-a-paw’ and ‘stop’ and I’ve been good as gold when left alone with the run of the doggy-approved areas for a few hours. My recall is coming along well and my foster folks are working on my leash manners; I’m always so excited to go for a walk and, while a lot of things seem new and/or might startle me, I’m quick to respond to my foster folks and get back to the business at hand! I love a good romp in the leaves and snow but I’m also a professional couch potato and like nothing better than to just sit close to my people and enjoy a good long nap. When bedtime comes, I’ve been settling down at the foot of the bed or on the doggy bunk bed and then I’m good for the whole night. I was pretty shaggy when I first came in and wasn’t crazy about being brushed but I was really good for the wonderful groomer who gave me a nice bath and haircut. Foster Mom says I’m the easiest foster dog they’ve had in many years and I’m so quick to learn; she thinks I have “angel ears.” I’m currently living with 3 other female dogs roughly the same age and size as me and we all get along like a bunch of old friends so she thinks I’d do well in a house with some canine buddies or on my own just as well. I’m still trying to figure out the other dogs’ great attraction to the toys that are everywhere but I’ve given a few of them a good shake to test ‘em out. But my favorite thing of all is to be wherever YOU are as I’m very attached and attuned to my humans…I’m a VERY good listener!
